Sirius Technical Services is currently seeking candidates for a contract Safety Specialist position in Parrish, Alabama that is expected to last around 7 months. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of safety experience in an industrial setting. A degree in Occupational Safety and Health is preferred but not required. The job description is posted below:

The position serves as the primary safety resource for employees at the facility, shares best practices with the fleet and coordinates initiatives with corporate safety. Supports plant management in the implementation of the safety and health program.

• Develop and facilitate the implementation of comprehensive safety improvement processes (policies, procedures, processes) for the facility
• Provide safety guidance and direction to facility employees
• Serve as a subject matter expert and technical adviser for safety functions at the facility
• Identify the needs, then lead the development and delivery of appropriate safety education/training programs and other services for employees at the facility
• Monitor, evaluate, analyze, track and publicize the facility's safety performance; lead the safety continuous improvement efforts
• Provide safety leadership to plant safety teams
• Perform facility safety self-assessments/audits
• Occasionally support night and weekend safety related activities
• Occasionally serve as on-call person for Compliance department
Types of Minimum Required Skill Sets and Expertise
• Knowledge and experience managing safety issues within an industrial facility
• Knowledge and experience implementing safety processes
• Working knowledge of safety and health regulations, national safety & health standards, general industry safety best practices, safety management practices and principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• Excellent presentation skills
• Ability to operate as a change agent through teamwork; demonstrated success as a team player
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Experience managing safety programs and ensuring that all tasks required by the program are being completed.
• Ability to build relationships across all classifications
• Highly energetic individual who shows initiative and seeks engagement with all classifications

• 7 years or 5 years w/ degree
• Experience in a power plant or similar industrial work place environment preferred

• Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or relevant field preferred
