This is a temporary position for 6-12 months with the possibility of becoming a regular, full-time employee.
• Work on-site for a large transmission line project.
• Coordinate with inspectors on-site and provide oversite
• QA/QC of data being collected by the pipeline inspectors while also preparing as-builts of the data
The GIS Design Technician is responsible for providing project setup and GIS design support to the project team for natural gas pipeline projects. Assignments may include field data collection, preliminary as-built drawings, and digitizing field notes to help generate permit drawings.
Duties and Responsibilities:

•Read, interpret, update, and create, plan/profile detail drawings and design drawings using GIS software (e.g.,ArcMAP).
•Perform a variety of mapping engineering support activities: Field notes and sketches, satellite imagery, aerial maps,and accurate permitting. Assist with technical design issue resolution.
•Perform editing, quality control, and other data manipulation to digital maps, ensuring data is properly stored and archived.
•Communicate effectively and accurately, both written and orally, with project team within and outside division.
•Proactively work toward project team, departmental, and company goals. Share knowledge and skills with coworkers respectfully.
•Follow MRS and client specific guidelines in compliance with Federal/State regulations.
•Maintain target billable goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Ability to use computer applications, functions, and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Adobe, ArcMAP, Trimble Geo 7, and/or Trimble R8. Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
•Capable of working interchangeably between GIS and CAD software is preferred.
•Ability to balance numerous projects with competing priorities under moderate supervision, meeting project deadlines in an organized manner.
•Ability to travel and/or work overtime as needed to meet project requirements and deadlines.
Education and Experience:
•Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school is preferred; or combination of education and work experience.
•Previous internship with MRS is preferred.
•Natural gas pipeline industry experience and GIS/drafting experience with piping is preferred.
Duties are performed in an office or field environment.
•Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
•Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
•Must be able to identify and distinguish colors, distances, and spatial relationships.
