Individual must have 10 to +15 years of relevant work experience.
Good working knowledge of MSHA, heavy earthwork and power line construction
Leading daily safety meetings, along with multiple audits and reports.
Ability to coach contractor’s & create a “Win Win” environment
Active coordination of work with plant operations to ensure no safety violations.
SM will abide by all safety requirements.
SM will enforce all safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment in all work through the construction and commissioning phases
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Good writing and report preparation skills.
High energy; this is not a desk job.
The SM will ensure that all work meets environmental permit requirements.
Ensure all required permit documentation is correct and maintained.
Responsible for inspecting site conditions to determine if hazards are present, and promptly bringing them to the attention of responsible parties.
Implement and enforce policies that reduce the risk of accidents.
Monitor for broken equipment, defective tools, and other potential hazards, focusing on employee safety.
Monitor that all workers meet personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Conduct investigations of all accidents and near-misses. Prepare forms associated with all accidents and near misses.
Conduct daily walk through inspections and daily written audits. To be tracked and followed up on as needed.
Ensure that required permits are on site and that Job Hazard Analysis’ (JHAs) are being followed. Review lift plans and LOTO procedures.
Attend construction contractor pre-bid meetings to describe particular EHS facets of the project pertaining to constructors.
Participate in end of construction debrief sessions to discuss EHS performance and lessons learned.
