Distribution Line Engineer II is a progressively more advanced distribution design role and will provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work with some supervision. This position is to provide experienced technical expertise to accurately analyze options and prepare distribution facility designs for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex line (both overhead and underground) problems in area of expertise.
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, cost estimates and design sketches.
Conducts engineering designs and related studies in accordance with company specifications and policies.
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance with the expectation to advance to a more independent role.
Develops positive working relationships with internal and external customers to effectively coordinate work activities.
Demonstrates effective customer service, oral and written communication skills.
Maintains accurate records and files.
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Accurately & effectively manages projects from start to completion.
This position may work with Homeowners, construction contractors, builders, developers, and state or local government project representatives.
Valid Drivers License and a vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement applies).
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
Experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.
Thorough understanding of Medium and Low voltage electric distribution specifications, materials, work procedures, and work dependencies.
Understanding of basic principles of project management.
Experience with an electric utility.
