P6 Scheduler role
This Senior Project Controls Specialist position is located in North Carolina and reports directly to the Manager of Project Controls. We are currently seeking a Senior Project Controls specialist who specializes in development and maintenance of resource loaded schedules using the Primavera scheduling tool. This position will be working in the Distribution area of our client as they work to strengthen the performance of the electric grid. While occasional meetings in office will be required periodically (weekly or biweekly), this individual will be allowed to work remotely without reporting into an office every day.
Workers at this level are responsible for performing complex aspects of individual project estimating, scheduling, and change documentation while reporting up to program or portfolio level with minimal supervision. (The cost control functions are being performed separately by Project Controls Cost analysts.) Workers are expected to have advanced project controls and primavera skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. The demands of this position are high with overtime hours likely.
Workers in this position will be responsible for preparation and maintenance of project schedules from a Level 1 summary to a Level 3 and work order detailed level in most cases. Will work closely with Project Managers and Resource Managers to incorporate their schedules into the projects Primavera schedule. Will review contractor schedules for duration, resource, milestones, and logic analysis and support development of detailed earned value and project performance reports, monitor change control process, identify schedule impact of proposed changes and incorporate those impacts into the work plan and budget. Also, will provide schedule advice to project teams and assist in preparation of special cost or staffing studies and analysis as requested.
Graduation from a four-year college or university - business, finance, project management, engineering, technical, or equivalent. Minimum of 9 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 5 years of project controls experience.
Proficient in project controls principles.
Proficiency / Expertise with project management / project controls concepts / computer applications / analytics; Strong collaborative team member and good communication skills are important.
Above average experience with Primavera 6 or higher
Above average Excel skills
Experience with Distribution or Transmission projects in a utility, or large construction projects
Working knowledge of work management software, specifically Maximo, is a plus
Masters - business, finance, project management, or equivalent. PMI or AACE certification (the following or equivalent are acceptable - PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, AACE-EVP).
Software such as MS Project/MS Office Suite, Primavera, Prolog, Passport, Visio, Powerplan, Maximo, PeopleSoft.
