VP of Operations – Hybrid / Minnesota
Position Details / Scope of Work:
The VP of Operations will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the operational strategies for the company’s industrial construction services. The VP will report to the CEO, and will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities within the corporate organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. This position is responsible for handling personnel and financial information and must ensure its confidentiality. This position requires overnight travel throughout the year as necessary. Travel percentage may fluctuate based on business needs. The VP of Operations will be responsible for multiple direct reports in the Minnesota corporate office. The ideal candidate will be closer to the corporate office in Minnesota.
Operational Leadership & Strategy:
The VP of Operations is responsible for:
• Maintaining a strong and dynamic operational team that aligns with the company’s best-in-class market approach and reputation, as well as overseeing and optimizing all aspects of sales operations, production, supply chain, and service delivery, from strategy development to system implementation.
• Creating and implementing strategy to achieve company and team growth targets.
• Leading, mentoring and managing their teams, ensuring that they meet performance goals.
• Providing training and support to enhance team effectiveness.
• Overseeing operational budget and performance relative to company targets by identifying potential risks, opportunities for improvement, and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Working closely with the sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure alignment; Reporting to the CEO and collaborating with other senior leaders to support business objectives, including growth, profitability, and market positioning.
• Oversees the interviewing, hiring and training of management staff within the operational group, as well as provides performance evaluation.
• Facilitates internal audits, risk assessment, and corrective actions as required.
• Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization's operations division.
• Collaborates with executive leadership and other divisions to develop and meet company goals and objectives, while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
• Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
• Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
• Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
• Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
• Establishes and administers the department's budget.
• Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the CEO and other leadership.
• Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
• Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
• Apparent or assigned – performs work as apparent or as assigned.
• This position requires intermittent availability during weekends, evenings, and early mornings for emergency projects. This does not restrict the use of their time off from work and will only be required to report to work when emergency jobs are prevalent.
Education / Experience Requirements:
• This senior leadership position requires a dynamic, results-driven individual with at least 10 years of energy industry experience (preferably nuclear) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in upper management.
• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required. MBA highly preferred. The preferred candidate must have power generation industry experience (nuclear preferred), and a demonstrated track record of leading high-performing teams in industrial construction or related sectors.
• Preferred knowledge and understanding of the power generation services industry, including trends, challenges, and key players. Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess market conditions, financial reports, and performance metrics. Individual should be highly motivated by achieving targets and driving business outcome.
• Proficiency in Microsoft O365, Teams, and related communication software. Ability to exercise diplomacy, judgement, and discretion, particularly related to sensitive or confidential information.
• Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail and ability to lead directly and through influence. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Comfortable with overnight travel as needed for business needs.

• Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
• Occasional bending or stooping.
• Regular lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 25#; over 25# with assistance.
• The ability to move freely about the office and reach with hands and arms.
• The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., alarms).
• This job requires the ability to work in stressful conditions from time to time and remain focused for extended periods of time.
