Electrical Engineer � Natural Gas Facilities (Owner�s Rep)
Location: Charlotte, NC � Hybrid (3 days onsite at corporate office)
Duration: 3-Year Contract
Pay Rate: $60�$72/hr
Travel: 10% (overnight and day travel, reimbursed)

About the Role:
We�re seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to serve as the Owner�s Representative on major capital facility projects within the Natural Gas Business Unit (NGBU). This long-term contract role involves providing subject matter expertise on electrical systems across large-scale projects, including LNG and Compression Facilities, while reviewing and overseeing engineering design and construction deliverables from EPCs.
You�ll play a critical role in ensuring engineering quality, design compliance, and successful execution of facility development, representing the owner�s interests every step of the way.

What You�ll Do:

Design Review & Engineering Oversight
Provide technical leadership and guidance on electrical layout and design, including:
Facility layout, underground utilities, conduit/duct bank systems
Grounding, lightning and cathodic protection systems
Oversee power distribution system design and components, such as:
MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, VFDs, and panelboards
Protection coordination, arc flash studies, and short circuit analyses
Cable routing, installation, and termination in hazardous (Class I Div 1/2) areas
Evaluate and contribute to DC power systems, battery systems, and controls
Controls Engineering Support
Review control systems for switchgear, MCCs, PLCs, RTUs, and Modbus communications
Coordinate with instrumentation teams to validate sensor, detector, and transmitter specs
Assist with integration planning and network architecture design
Project Coordination & Oversight
Collaborate with EPCs and utility providers to maintain scope, interface clarity, and schedules
Oversee system integrators through design review, documentation, and commissioning
Participate in field walkdowns, construction verification, and as-built documentation reviews
Lead resolution of design issues and ensure quality across project lifecycle
Documentation & Policy Development
Draft scopes of work, specifications, and support RFP evaluations
Develop internal standards, design templates, and engineering guides for NGBU
Ensure compliance with codes, contract terms, and stakeholder expectations


What We�re Looking For:
Bachelor�s or Master�s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Minimum 8 years of practical engineering experience
Prior experience working on LNG or Compression Facility projects is highly preferred
Familiarity working with and reviewing deliverables from EPC contractors
Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, utility coordination, and commissioning support
Excellent communication, documentation, and multi-disciplinary coordination skills
Willingness to travel (10�20%) as needed for field support and meetings
