Description: They are open to a Hybrid work schedule of coming onsite 1x2 times a month
Develops project designs for transmission, distribution, industrial, and generating station substation protection systems and support facilities. Assists field personnel with the installation of specified material. PROJECTS: Creates engineering drawings to convey the electrical design of generation, transmission, distribution and industrial substations. Prepares purchase requisitions and material requests to acquire substation electrical equipment. Assist in the preparation of specifications to insure that ordered equipment be manufactured in accordance with its intended use. Performs grounding tests and assists with the design calculations for new and existing ground grids. Creates RTU drawings, RTU programming, and EMS database sheets. Acts as project leader on assigned projects attending meetings and monitoring project schedules to verify compliance within service dates. INNOVATION/CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Researches, investigates and evaluates new technological applications and materials to be used for the design of electrical substations including improvements to processes, safety and cost effectiveness. Works with field personnel to become more familiar with electrical equipment. STANDARDS: Review and update specifications, figures, and the standard material catalog. This includes participating in review meetings, assisting team members, interfacing with vendors, routing, making corrections, and following the Standards Procedure. All records in Oracle, iPort, and ECM need to be maintained and accurate. Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new designs and technologies.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university with background in power system education and research preferred. A minimum of five years of direct relay protection experience required. Must demonstrate an understanding and working experience with substation protection and operational control schemes, along with communication and strong computer skills. FE is required.
