A career-minded Water/Wastewater Engineer, looking toward advancement, is needed to join a growing consulting engineering practice. The employee will plan and lead engineering designs in the water/wastewater field through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes. Responsibilities include managing multiple design projects simultaneously, preparing and updating project schedules, developing and documenting critical design elements, and coordinating the efforts of a design team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.
The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on projects such as sewershed studies and rehabilitation, new sewer design, water distribution, water/wastewater treatment, and pump station projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. The employee is expected to provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently, with limited supervision, to support project objectives and ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Analyze project requirements and alternative studies to develop accurate reports for submittal.
Review survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
Assess and identify collection/distribution system performance deficiencies, predict future issues, and develop solutions for planning and design projects.
Demonstrate familiarity with hydraulic designs, sewer rehabilitation, water and sewer design, pump station and treatment process design, engineering economics, specification preparation, and report writing.
Apply general heavy construction principles; experience in environmental facilities operations is a plus.
Perform design computations and prepare construction cost estimates.
Develop and review contract plans, specifications, and estimates.
Attend client meetings and assist with meeting documentation.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure cohesive project design.
Conduct quality reviews of project designs in accordance with project management plans.
Provide technical oversight, guidance, and support to design engineers within the department.
Required Experience:
5–10 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Preferred Experience:
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Experience working with local, county, and state clients
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based (approximately 95% of the time), with occasional fieldwork.
Fieldwork may involve exposure to outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, or humidity.
Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
MUST HAVE:
5–10 years of related experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
