Position Overview
The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for developing detailed electrical system designs for industrial, automation, building, or machinery applications. This role collaborates closely with engineers, architects, and cross-functional project teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant electrical designs.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in CAD-based electrical design, deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles, and the ability to independently develop and review complex design packages.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Development
Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives

Develop electrical system layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams

Design electrical systems for:

Industrial machinery

Building systems

Automation systems

Other electrical applications

Specify and select electrical components, materials, and equipment

CAD & Technical Tools
Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks Electrical, etc.) to create and modify drawings

Maintain proficiency in design software and stay current with enhancements

Perform drawing updates and revisions as required

Compliance & Standards
Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and industry standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)

Review designs for adherence to regulatory and safety requirements

Documentation & Deliverables
Prepare and maintain organized documentation including:

Electrical drawings

Specifications

Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Prepare technical reports and project documentation

Perform quality checks and peer reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness

Collaboration & Problem-Solving
Work with engineers, architects, vendors, and plant staff to integrate electrical systems

Address design-related issues and provide effective solutions

Support project stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle

Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field

7+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer or similar role

Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design

Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices

Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PLC programming and control systems

Experience in industrial or power-related environments

Experience working directly with plant operations teams
