Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Specialist for a Direct Hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.
Overview
This role involves providing technical guidance and support in electrical and automation disciplines within a heavy industrial manufacturing setting, focusing on maintaining and improving equipment and processes related to the RH Degasser and Ladle Treatment Station.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and consultancy to management in electrical and automation disciplines at levels L0 and L1.
Coordinate engineering activities for maintenance support, including system and equipment modifications, technical analysis, proposals, testing, and commissioning.
Coordinate third-party engineering contracting services from scope definition to project closeout, ensuring minimal interference with existing processes.
Maintain and update technical documentation for the company's equipment and systems.
Guarantee technical quality and proper documentation throughout project phases from feasibility studies to final acceptance.
Establish technical standards for purchasing and modifying equipment, incorporating new technologies as needed.
Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on project progress and technical matters.
Coordinate and execute multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Prepare reports, analyze information, and summarize trends and findings.
Observe safety protocols and assist in incident investigations.
Lead and support process improvement programs and project teams.
Support management in optimizing equipment quality, cost, availability, and performance.
Coordinate and direct personnel as required.
Foster safety culture and ensure a healthy work environment.
Support quality commitments and demonstrate core company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability.
Maintain working knowledge of relevant ISO standards and facilitate compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of electrical engineering practices and heavy industrial equipment.
Technical knowledge of: design and programming of PLC and HMI control systems; design and startup of AC drive systems; electrical systems and drives (VFD/VSD); reviewing and developing P&IDs; NEC and NFPA 70E standards.
Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and analysis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience using SAP is preferred.
Steel industry experience is preferred.
Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders and work in small and large teams.
Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with designing and programming PLC and HMI control systems.
Experience with AC drive systems and electrical controls.
Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques and analysis.
Steel industry background.
