Commissioning & Testing Field Lead – Grid-Side Substation

Location Wheatfield, IN 46392
Onsite Assignment: September 2026 – December 31, 2026

Overview
This opportunity is with a leading power generation and utility infrastructure organization supporting a major gas peaker project. The Commissioning & Testing Field Lead will oversee field commissioning, testing, and energization activities for the grid-side substation scope, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful project execution while coordinating with construction, engineering, and utility stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities
Lead field commissioning and testing activities for the grid-side substation scope.
Coordinate energization planning and execution while maintaining compliance with project and utility requirements.
Provide on-site leadership during commissioning, startup, and system turnover activities.
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules.
Ensure all commissioning activities are completed safely, documented accurately, and aligned with quality standards.

Must-Have Experience
Proven leadership experience managing substation commissioning and testing activities in the field.
Strong background supporting GSU (Generator Step-Up Transformer) systems and substation energization.
Experience leading commissioning efforts on utility, transmission, or power generation projects.

Preferred Skills
Experience supporting gas-fired power generation projects.
Strong coordination skills across engineering, construction, and utility teams.
Knowledge of commissioning documentation, turnover packages, and testing procedures.
Ability to manage fast-paced field activities while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Work Environment
Full-time onsite field assignment from September 2026 through December 31, 2026.
Anticipated schedule of 5 x 10-hour days in September, increasing to 6 x 10-hour days beginning in October.
Field-based role supporting commissioning, testing, startup, and energization activities within an active substation environment.
Candidates should be comfortable working extended hours during critical project commissioning and energization milestones.
Per diem of up to $143 per day (all-inclusive) is available to cover lodging, meals, rental car, fuel, and travel home in accordance with project guidelines
