Position: Renewable Project Manager I – Utility-Scale Generation Procurement
Location: 241 Ralph McGill Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30308
Duration: 18 Months

Southern Company Services is seeking an experienced Renewable Project Manager to lead the evaluation, procurement, contracting, and execution of utility-scale renewable energy and energy-storage projects.

This role will manage Request for Proposal activities, Power Purchase Agreements, Qualifying Facility projects, interconnection coordination, regulatory support, and project execution through commercial operation. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, developers, vendors, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage utility-scale renewable, energy-storage, PPA, and QF projects from evaluation through commercial operation.
• Lead project planning, execution, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and closeout.
• Manage renewable procurement programs and Utility-Scale RFP activities.
• Lead the evaluation, negotiation, implementation, and administration of PPAs and QF agreements.
• Coordinate QF project intake, technical evaluation, interconnection, milestone tracking, and commercial-readiness activities.
• Evaluate project risks, contractual terms, pricing, schedules, commercial milestones, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, legal, finance, procurement, system planning, operations, regulatory, and external stakeholders.
• Support regulatory filings, PPA certification activities, QF program implementation, and integrated resource planning.
• Monitor project performance, identify schedule or budget issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate project records, contracts, change orders, reports, and executive-level status updates.
• Lead project meetings and communicate project risks, decisions, and progress to leadership.
• Support after-hours storm-restoration activities when required.

Required Qualifications
• Accredited bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Energy Policy, Project Management, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of project-management or related electric utility experience.
• Experience managing complex, cross-functional energy or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of project scope, schedules, budgets, contracts, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering teams, plant personnel, developers, vendors, and senior leadership.
• Proficiency with project-management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar applications.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in renewable energy, system planning, utility-scale procurement, energy storage, or utility operations.
• Experience with PPAs, QF agreements, interconnection agreements, contract administration, and portfolio management.
• Knowledge of PURPA, avoided-cost procurement programs, QF regulations, and renewable energy contracting.
• Master’s degree or professional certification such as PMP, PE, or CEM.
• Experience supporting regulatory proceedings or integrated resource planning.
