Project Overview & Role Description:

We are seeking an experienced, self-starting Electrical & Commissioning Technician for a 2-month contract at a small-scale solar facility in Tennessee. This is a dedicated testing and commissioning role focused strictly on everyday equipment checkout, verification, and commissioning support. You will work alongside a small, efficient field crew to safely troubleshoot and energize the system.

Because this is a short-term, fast-paced deployment starting September 1, 2026, we need someone who can hit the ground running based on solid field experience. NETA certification is not required for this role. Successful completion of this project with a positive working relationship opens the door for upcoming future project work.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine electrical testing, functional testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning checks on solar equipment starting from 480VAC through standard medium voltage ranges (Inverters, transformers, and switchgear components).

Collaborate closely with a small onsite team to execute commissioning procedures and meet tight project deadlines safely.

Document all test results, deficiency lists, and commissioning logs clearly to report anomalies to the team site lead.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Strong practical background as an Electrical Technician, Commissioning Tech, Substation Tech, or Industrial Testing Technician.

References: Must provide at least 2 professional references from recent electrical testing or commissioning projects.

Voltage Range: Must be comfortable and experienced working with low and medium voltage systems starting at 480VAC.

Solar Experience: Prior experience with commissioning small-scale solar or distributed generation projects is a major asset but not strictly required if your industrial commissioning background is strong.

Tools: You only need to bring your own basic hand tools and standard PPE. All specialized testing equipment and company trucks are provided on-site.

Travel & Lodging: Candidates must arrange their own travel to get to the project location initially. Company trucks handle daily transit to and from the site. Technicians are expected to secure lodging within 30 minutes of the job site.

Traits: Strong self-starter attitude with excellent communication skills for a heavy-overtime 6-1 schedule in a small-team environment.
