SWA is in search of a Dropper Loop / Phase Connection Technician familiar with Alston rotating power equipment for an upcoming project

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Perform installation, removal, repair, and replacement of generator phase droppers and dropper loops.
•Assist with disassembly and reassembly of generator stator winding and terminal connection components.
•Inspect phase droppers, flexible connections, main leads, brazed joints, insulation systems, and associated hardware for signs of deterioration, overheating, cracking, vibration damage, or mechanical wear.
•Fabricate, form, position, and fit copper conductors and flexible connections according to drawings, measurements, templates, and OEM requirements.
•Prepare copper surfaces and electrical connections for brazing, soldering, welding, or other approved joining processes.
•Perform or assist with brazing and connection of generator winding components when qualified and authorized.
•Apply, repair, and finish electrical insulation systems using approved insulating tapes, resins, epoxies, sleeving, blocking, and related materials.
•Properly support, brace, block, and secure dropper loops and phase connections to minimize vibration and mechanical stress.
•Verify proper clearances, spacing, routing, orientation, and alignment of generator winding and terminal components.
•Read and interpret electrical drawings, winding diagrams, connection diagrams, blueprints, technical procedures, and OEM specifications.
•Take accurate measurements and document conductor locations and configurations before disassembly.
•Assist with electrical testing and inspection activities associated with stator windings and generator connections.
•Identify damaged or questionable winding components and report findings to supervisors, engineers, or quality personnel.
•Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, heating equipment, brazing equipment, and specialized generator-winding tools.
•Maintain clean and organized work areas and protect generator components from contamination or physical damage.
•Follow established quality-control requirements and document completed work when required.
•Participate in generator outages, rewinds, major inspections, repairs, and field-service projects.
•Work cooperatively with winders, technicians, engineers, supervisors, millwrights, electricians, and other craft personnel.
•Follow all customer-site, company, OSHA, electrical, confined-space, fall-protection, and lockout/tagout safety requirements.
