Power Systems - Field Technicians & Relay Technicians (Level II through Senior level)

We're seeking a skilled and motivated Power Systems Field & Relay Technicians to perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical power distribution and protective relaying equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical electrical infrastructure in substations, industrial facilities, utilities, and data center environments while advancing your technical expertise through company-sponsored training and NETA certification support.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience in electrical testing, relay protection, commissioning, field service, industrial maintenance, utilities, or electrical contracting who are looking to grow their careers in the power systems industry.

What You'll Do
Perform testing, inspection, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical power distribution equipment.
Install, test, commission, and maintain protective relaying systems and associated control circuits.
Work on circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, CTs, PTs, grounding systems, relay panels, and protection and control equipment.
Execute relay testing using industry-standard relay test equipment and software.
Perform end-to-end testing of protection schemes and verify relay operations based on fault scenarios.
Conduct function testing of substation control circuits, transformers, relay panels, and circuit breakers.
Review relay settings, logic equations, and protection schemes to verify compliance with design requirements.
Perform communication installation and testing, including SCADA, Fiber, Modbus, GOOSE, and related systems.
Utilize specialized testing equipment, including Ductor, Hi-Pot, power factor, ratio, saturation, and relay test equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection drawings, and technical documentation.
Develop and follow testing, commissioning, isolation, and maintenance procedures.
Analyze electrical systems and troubleshoot equipment issues in the field.
Accurately document testing results, commissioning activities, and field reports.
Lead by example in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture.
Travel to customer sites and represent the company professionally.

Qualifications
3-6+ years of experience in electrical power systems, utilities, substations, industrial maintenance, electrical contracting, testing, commissioning, or related industries.
Hands-on experience with electrical power distribution equipment and protective relaying systems.
Experience performing electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
Ability to safely work around low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems.
Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and protection and control diagrams.
Familiarity with relay testing equipment and commissioning processes preferred.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers and team members.
Willingness to travel locally and regionally, including occasional overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications
NETA Certification (Levels II-IV) or equivalent industry experience.
Experience with substation protection and control systems.
Knowledge of communication protocols including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, and fiber optic systems.
Experience in data center, utility, power generation, or industrial environments.
Protective relay testing and commissioning experience.

Work Environment
This is a field-based position with approximately 95-100% of work performed at customer locations, including substations, industrial facilities, utilities, and critical infrastructure sites. Travel and overtime are expected and provide opportunities to gain diverse experience across a variety of power system environments.
