Electrician – Emergency Power & Generator Support

Master or Journeyman Licensed/Certified

Location: CONUS/OCONUS; domestic and international travel
Duration: Temporary, 10+ days; deployment-based
Schedule: Extended hours and changing schedules as mission requires

Position Overview

Critical Response Strategies (CRS) is seeking a licensed or certified Master or Journeyman Electrician to support disaster response and emergency power missions. This role connects, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs generators and associated electrical systems to meet facility requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely connect emergency generators using knowledge of separately derived and nonseparately derived systems, grounding, and bonding.

• Test, troubleshoot, and repair generator AC electrical systems, including voltage changes based on facility requirements.

• Rewire, install, and adjust control panels and voltage regulators.

• Adjust speed controls and related settings; verify voltage, frequency, phase rotation, and load balance.

• Inspect cables, connections, and distribution components; document repairs and report concerns to the Electrical Branch Leader.

• Follow applicable electrical codes, manufacturer instructions, and safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Master or Journeyman Electrician license/certification, including state licensure where required or successful completion of qualifying knowledge-based and practical examinations.

• Must have Hands-on, in-person CPR Training.

• Required experience and training established by the issuing agency.

• Hands-on experience with emergency generator connectivity, troubleshooting, and repair.

• Thorough understanding of separately derived and nonseparately derived systems.

• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and safely use testing equipment.

• Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport valid for at least six months following deployment.

• U.S. citizenship; ability to pass a background check and obtain any required government clearance.

• Ability to bring required tools, communicate effectively in English, and deploy on short notice.

Working Conditions

Work may involve long hours, extreme weather, loud noise, electrical hazards, and austere conditions. Must be able to perform essential duties, including frequently lifting 40–45 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
