Talascend is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client located in Atlanta, GA.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will work on a rapidly growing product development team to produce next generation Airborne Defensive Systems.
Develop 3D models, detail drawings, bill of materials and other related documentation.
Coordinate with manufacturing on engineering change notices (ECNs).
Perform thermal, structural and fatigue analysis on a line replaceable unit (LRU) and airframe structures.
Define, perform and document environmental qualification test, including vibration, shock, thermal to various standards.
Perform tolerance stack up analysis.
Research / review customer specifications to ensure compliance.
Collaborate with other team members to maintain a cohesive system design.
Develop PCB outline drawings and support component selection, placement, and sizing to insure thermal, vibration, and EMI concerns are managed.
Actively support quality AS9100 continuous improvement.
Develop ME solutions for maximum reuse and portability.
Recommend new technologies and methodologies to reduce cost, and weight and/or increase strength and useful life.
Drive strategic ME designs across all aspects of product development for airframe structural designs of pods and pylons used in military aircraft.
Drive new technologies and methodologies for more efficient thermal management in designs.
Capable of performing sophisticated structural and thermal air flow analysis.
Propose and develop products in the markets we serve.
Collaborate with peer technical leads to ensure customer deliverables are met.
Perform rapid prototyping on new designs to support form fit functions requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
Own assignments and take full accountability for overall team success.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelorís degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 10 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA and ASME Y14.
Experience using PLMs like WindChill.
Solid knowledge of heat transfer, modal and Finite Element Analysis.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with MS Office applications.
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members in remote locations.
Ability to guide others through mentoring and coaching.
Willingness to travel CONUS and OCUNUS.
Masterís degree preferred.
