The Senior Electrical Engineer will be a member of the optical inter-satellite link (OISL) hardware team, focusing on the design of the various electrical functions of the OISL including analog sensor signal conditioning and processing, analog actuator control, and overall OISL monitoring and control across spacecraft interfaces.
They will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, from board design and component selection, to layout review and board bring-up and test. As a senior member of the team, they will be responsible for identifying top level requirements and ensuring high quality and innovative designs are pursued, while also supporting other OISL colleagues with reviewing and improving board and other electrical designs.
Team sits out of Seattle but position is 100% Remote (Pacific or Mountain Time Zones strongly preferred). 3-6 month Contract with aim to bring consultant on permanent (FTE).
Minimum Expected Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in hardware development across full product life cycles (concept to production at scale)
Experience with schematic and layout ECAD tools (Mentor Xpedition or xDx Designer Required)
Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Python or C/C++
Experience with complex PCB design and debugging, including microprocessors, FPGAs, power supplies, ADCs and sensors
Experience with complex board designs (15+ layers), including high-speed interconnects, high-reliability designs, avionics solutions and/or vehicle control systems
Electronics design/qualification experience with radiation environments or radiation tolerant hardware
Experience developing highly reliable electronics systems for extreme environments
Experience with low-level firmware development and integration
Experience with rapid iteration prototyping and joint hardware/firmware development; partnering with software engineers to bring-up and test new hardware designs
Experience with development of hardware in loop testing for automotive and/or aerospace systems
