Typical responsibilities include:
-Creating Creo models and associated drawings with some direction from technical specialists.
-Performs design calculations to validate any phase of design requirements.
-Individual must be able to provide data and product definition in support of contract data requirements list (CDRL) submittals.
-They shall be able to participate effectively in preliminary and critical design reviews, data reviews, and product reviews, and initiating changes as necessary.
-Individual is responsible for assuring that design/design verification results are attained within project budget and schedule.
-They are responsible for escalating in a timely manner when commitment dates of assigned and individual work cannot be met.
-Act on technical guidance from more senior designers and design technical leaders.
Skills:
-Candidates must have experience with Creo, Windchill and GD&T.
-Extensive knowledge of the latest ASME 14.5Y geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods and the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and related specifications is critical.
-Design knowledge with rocket engine hardware; such as Propellant valves (cryogenic, ambient and hot gas), Bleed and Purge Valves, along with Combustion Chambers, Nozzles, Preburners, Gas Generators and Combustion Structural Manifold configurations is beneficial.
-Design engineers are also required to be capable to research, develop, analyze, design, and support fabrication of components using engineering and scientific principles.
-Understanding on how to read and interpret engineering design related codes, regulations and specifications as well as applicable customer requirements is also required.
-Effective interpersonal and communication skills, operating effectively in a team environment along with the ability to write clearly and concisely is essential.
Education: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and 2+ years of related technical experience as a Design Engineer is required.
5 years of rocket propulsion design experience preferred.
