Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Structural Designer for a contract opportunity located at the Kenney Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL.

OVERVIEW:

As part of the Proposal team, you will be working in a diverse group providing deliverables & generating input to proposals for Firm Fixed Price/Lump Sum/Cost Reimbursable type projects associated with marine/heavy industrial facilities, renovation or repair of large waterfront facilities, Department of Energy and Department of Defense high hazard/nuclear facilities, nuclear power plants, and general government infrastructure. This multi-functional team will include personnel from Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Startup.

Candidates experienced with steel design will work remotely after an initial 2 week business trip to get acquainted with the project and team. This would need to be followed by a minimum 1 week business trip per month to assure progress and refresh assignments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will support design development structural engineering designs for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Work with other structural designers/engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.
Originate/check structural steel design drawings.
Originate/check structural concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
Participate in project design/model reviews.
Participate in constructability reviews.
Assist with walkdowns of existing facilities.
Perform formal drawings. Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in executing work as an integrated team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Level 1: BS degree in a related field with 6 years of related design experience or AA/AS degree with 11 years of related design experience. In lieu of a degree, 15 years of related design experience.
Level 2: BS degree in a related field with 9 years of related design experience or AA/AS degree with 15 years of related design experience. In lieu of a degree, 19 years of related design experience.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for structural systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building structural systems.
Must be United States Citizen.
Advance experience in the use of Revit to create structural designs.
Work experience should emphasize Structural design of heavy industrial type and or marine facilities.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Familiar with the provisions of ASTM, ACI, ASTM, and WBDG UFC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
Familiar with the methods of procurement and control of bulk materials.
Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with Facilities Design.
Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of Civil Site systems of moderate complexity.
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
Qualified candidates must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus unless legally exempt from the vaccination requirement.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

AA in civil engineering or engineering technology.
Knowledge in use of Corporate guides and standards.
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
Experience utilizing Tekla or similar solids modeling programs.
Engineering automation experience quantifying design commodities.
Construction field experience.
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
