Sr. Application Administrator – Logistics Systems
This position is responsible for design, implementation, monitoring and managing of all IT Logistics applications, and serves as the IT Logistics technical liaison to other TSC teams and vendors. This requires strong knowledge of AIX, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs installation, configuration, administration and tuning of software applications. (40%)
Participates in the execution of testing as part of the Quality Assurance process. (5%)
Documents processes and procedures. (5%)
Participates in 24x7 on call rotations. (5%)
Conducts research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. (10%)
Plans and implements changes, upgrades and new services. (20%)
Provides technical leadership and mentors team members. (10%)
Designs and implements redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. (5%)
May perform other duties as assigned *
Degree and/or 5-9 years of experience (Bachelor's degree not required).
Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology.
5-9 years experience assisting in designing, building, configuring, and supporting software applications is preferred.
Certification related to applications is preferred.
Strong understanding of application, networking, and database functions.
Strong understanding of AIX and Windows operating systems.
Strong understanding of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Sever.
Proven ability to create new or modify existing Perl and shell scripts.
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Proven understanding of security and development best practices.
Strong understanding of system architecture and design around IT systems.
Ability to work independently, work in a fast paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
Basic critical thinking skills.
Basic communication skills, both written and verbal.
