[System Engineer] Sr Eng III – Senior System Administrator - MD - 7047

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Sr Eng III – Senior System Administrator opportunity for our customer in Columbia, Maryland.

Project Overview:

This position is for a Senior System Administrator on a project located in Columbia, MD. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member that will provide system management and support across multiple complex systems using both Linux and Windows operating systems. The operating systems could be hosted on virtual systems. The ideal candidate should have proficient oral and written communications skills and superb technical skills, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. As a senior technical candidate, you will be engaged in long-term strategy development, commission activities, configuration management, backup/restore, hardware and software planning, and network-related activities. Additionally, you should have the ability to lead small teams in the various noted activities.

This position is in Columbia, MD.

Responsibilities include:
Coordinates with technical team leads and other stakeholders to meet the overall Infrastructure system requirements.
Serves as a technical expert in Windows and Linux administration in a traditional or virtualized environment for the overall project.
Works closely with network engineers to ensure network architecture is implemented and adhered to.
Supports network architecture development as required.
Works closely with technicians to ensure hardware and software is installed and configured properly and documented. Provide leadership to the team as required.
Supports system performance monitoring which also includes storage utilization and needs.
Coordinates with property personnel to ensure computing assets are managed.
Assists stakeholders and team leads in planning hardware and software for the overall systems.
Works as part of the task team and individually, as needed, to deploy solutions.
Provides small team leadership and oversight as needed as needed.
Prepares progress and special reports for stakeholders as assigned.
Works in cross-functional team to research problems and provide solutions.

Basic Qualifications:
You must possess an active TS SCI security clearance.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with thirteen (13) years’ experience relevant to Information
Technology OR nineteen (19) years’ work experience relevant to Information Technology in lieu of degree.
Salary and grade commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Technical experience with IT Infrastructure components (software, servers, hardware, facility, networks, etc.).
Technical experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
Technical experience managing and deploying virtualized systems.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and network architecture.
Schedule development and tracking experience.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience leading small teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
Operating system and network certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solution Expert, Cisco Certified
Network Associate, Linux Professional Institute Certification System Administrator, etc.).
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Openstack.
Working experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) or Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
Experience performing configuration management, installation, and maintenance of complex systems.
