Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Security Assistant 3 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Location: 100% Onsite, (TA-0003)
Group/Organization: SEC-PS (8L020A)
Work Schedule: 9/80s or 5-8’s, OT possible but not required

Clearance: Able obtain and maintain “Q”

Summary
Security assistants provide administrative-type support in personnel security and computer and information security.
Provides administrative-type support in access and visit control (Badge Office), personnel security (clearance processing), and human reliability program (HRP), and security system logistics. Specific duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to, compiling, organizing, and electronically entering security-related information; researching, compiling, and proofing security-related administrative-type assignments; and providing general customer service, including answering questions regarding established security policies and procedures. Applies knowledge of standardized rules of the job and Laboratory policies and principles to complete a wide range of tasks. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult and complex in nature, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations. Errors may be difficult to detect and would normally result in significant disruption or expense to correct. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

Personnel Security is a discipline that works to mitigate the risk individual workers may pose by utilizing a unique set of policies and procedures within Access Control, Access Authorizations, and the Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. Personnel Security assists in assessing the loyalty, reliability, and trustworthiness of individuals for initial and continued eligibility for access to classified information and those who occupy positions affording access to certain materials, nuclear explosive devices, facilities, and programs. Personnel Security is comprised of the Badge Office, Control of Classified Visits, Clearance Processing, Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI) & Facility Registration (FCL), Human Reliability Program, Drug & Alcohol Testing Program, and Security Awareness.

As a Security Specialist 3, reporting to the Access Authorizations Team Leader, you will provide functional and operational coordination to other Drug & Alcohol Test specialists. Receiving minimal direction from your Team Leader, your primary responsibility will be to establish schedules and methods to ensure all types of drugs and/or alcohol tests are being scheduled and completed in accordance with the Laboratory Governing Policies. You will perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. This position will require meticulous attention to detail, as positive test results may serve as evidence in legal proceedings. You will maintain records, extract and analyze trends in drug testing and in positive rates, and in areas of concern for inclusion in weekly, monthly and annual reports.

Additionally, you will have regular contact with Occupational Medicine, Human Resources Employee Relations and Labor Relations, the Security Investigations Team, Deployed Security, and members of Security and Safeguards core services to provide security and safeguards related information, support and operations. Additionally, you will act as the Liaison between LANL and Quest Diagnostics Laboratory for account management. You will be responsible for the tactical execution of daily operations and assist the Team Leader in the achievement of organizational goals for programmatic, business, and operational excellence; and develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, and training in accordance with DOE Directives, NNSA Policies, and Code of Federal Regulations.
