Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for an Engineering Technologist 1 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
Location: 100% Onsite
Group/Organization: AMPP-DO (5A000B)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain “Q”
Position typically requires an associate degree in engineering, technology, science, math or related degree required; or equivalent years of relevant experience in lieu of degree requirement; and at least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Uses the principles and theories of engineering, math, and science to solve technical problems within discipline in support of engineering and engineering research. Supports engineering/projects in the performance of complex and demanding assignments requiring initiative and independent judgment. Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facilities, design, operation, maintenance, project and/or research-based engineering. May provide direction to technicians. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Utilizes engineering and computer technology to accomplish work. Continuously improves work processes to meet customer needs.
This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
Additional Job Requirements:
Knowledge of one or more of the following: 49 CFR and 10 CFR relating to hazardous material packaging such as LSA, IP, Type A and Type B.
Knowledge of Class 7 Radioactive Materials to include the understanding of isotopic composition, activity limits, and other related elements.
DOE O 460.1B Packaging and Transportation Safety; P151-1 LANL Packaging and Transportation Program Procedure.
Experience with nuclear criticality safety, material control and accountability, radiological protection, safety basis compliance, waste minimization, and waste management
Knowledge and understanding of packaging design and validation standards; Active DOE Q clearance.
Radworker, HMPT; Site-specific training at TA-55, RLWTF, RLUOB, RANT, TWF and/or CMR.
