Assists in coordination of contractors or supervision of crafts within a particular construction work (discipline) area. Observes and interfaces with contractors or trades to monitor work performance, progress, and productivity of crafts. Provides liaison between field engineers and contractors or crafts to insure construction complies with drawings and specifications. Typically supervises up to ten discipline craftsmen.

Typical craft subsets:
Construction - Mechanical, Civil, Concrete, Electrical, Instrumentation, Structural, Piping, Insulator, Marine, and Dragline.
Fabrication Division - Fabrication, Hydraulics, and Machining.

•Supervise craft workers assigned to area of responsibility. Provide liaison between Construction Management/Project Coordination, engineering, estimating, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications.
•Read and follow installation procedures and direct crew to do the same.
•Assists General Foreman by providing input to identify key success factors for the craft crew.
•Maintains the short range look ahead plans and discusses all deviations with the Superintendent/Asst. Superintendent. Establish and adjust work methods and sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
•Reviews and measures cost and man-hour budget for installation process.
•Develops an equipment and tool requirement plan and reviews it with the General Foreman.
•Responsible for resolving problems or rework.
•Attend field execution meeting. Conduct/attend team meetings.
•Lead crew toolbox safety meetings.
•Assist in obtaining personnel through Human Resources/Recruiting or network (as necessary).
•Receive and distribute work packages.
•Verify control points as a baseline.
•Promote Stop Work authority with crews.
•Develop work plans for crews.
•Identify and develop alternate plans for schedule interference.
•Receive incorporated material.
•May conduct site specific safety task training.
•Conduct post task safety reviews.
•Conduct audits / inspections.
•Feedback for employee evaluations.
•Measure and submit installed quantities to relevant party.
•May assist in developing cost estimates for contracts.
•Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of supervision. Insure P&ID's, drawings, and specifications are adhered to in construction.
•Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, materials quantities, equipment, requirements, etc. are maintained.
•Measure work performance and productivity of crafts to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
•Ensure that craft time cards are completed and submitted to accurately reflect hours worked. Monitor crew attendance.
•Advise senior level supervision and Construction/Project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
•Maintain liaison with other departments, i.e., Purchasing, Accounting, Engineering, etc. as required to support construction schedule. May provide assistance to Assistant Superintendents in resolving problems.
•Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Minimum of five years construction experience; minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity.

Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents, plus ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance is essential.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. Occasional or frequent air travel with overnight stays.

•Manual dexterity, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time;
•Frequent climbing stairs / ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching;
•Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures;
•Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents;
•Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli;
•Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting / force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of lifting / force constantly to move objects; and
•Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
