The Structural Welder will be responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts.
•Selects equipment and plans welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
•May position and align pipe for welding.
•Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to secure position for welding.
•Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, continuous wire feed, flux-cored wire feed or gas welding equipment.
•Clean, maintain and repair welding rig and equipment to include hoses, electrodes, switches and wiring.
•May cut or reshape metal components using cutting torch.
*Dragline, Mining, shipbuilding and/or shipyard experience.
*Must be a able to pass: AWS D1.1,3 and 4 G plate test on 1" carbon steel may have to use a ceramic backing FCAW 1/16" wire test.
*Familiar with air arc and heavy plate welding and fitting.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
•Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
•Work easily and skillfully with hands, including holding rods steady and moving electrode precisely.
•Manipulate dials, knob, switches and triggers.
•Effectively utilize at least the SMAW welding processes on carbon steel pipe.
•May also weld aluminum or galvanized components and/or utilize wire feed machines with or without gas shielding.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and in all types of weather and temperature conditions.
•Manual dexterity, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
•Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching and crouching.
•Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.
•Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
•Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
•Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting/force frequently
and up to 10 pounds of lifting/force constantly to move objects.
•Frequent driving of motor vehicles.

Pay: $25-$27/hr DOE
Per Diem: $550 weekly
Travel Pay: 20 hrs (TO ONLY)
Length of assignment: 65 days
Requirements: Weld test
Certification: MSHA 48 (provided if none)
