Senior Electrical Engineer
The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of Electrical Engineering projects. Develop Electrical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.
Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
Manage projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modifications
Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas
Develop and evaluate AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests
May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams
Perform other duties as required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years of related experience in Engineering or a related field, OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering or related field
Working knowledge and experience in electronics, PLCs, radio communications and control systems
Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of Electrical Engineering with an understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering techniques
Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Skill in managing large/complex Engineering projects
Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written
Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification preferred
Engineering or technician supervision experience
Experience in managing industrial electrical projects including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling and construction oversight
Experience inspecting construction projects and evaluating contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes
Field experience in Electrical and Instrumentation discipline
Knowledge and understanding of NEC & NFPA70E Regulations
Experience with SKM
Experience designing Power Systems, Instrumentation and controls
Familiarity with AC and DC motors, and plant instrumentation such as pressure indicators, thermocouples, level indicators, flow indicators proximity switches, etc.
Experience working with VFD's and PLC's
Experience managing high voltage projects
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
