Superintendent - Civil Construction
This is a direct hire position with locations all over the country. Hub cities include Greenville, Charleston and Columbia, SC
Provide overall on-site management on construction project site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc.
o Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).
o Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
o May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
o Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
o Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
o Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc.
o Document all violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
o Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
o Perform additional assignments per Supervisorís direction.
Manage 1 to 5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 1 to 7 employees in the field operations.
Overall knowledge and experience in site work construction such as earthmoving, dewatering, underground utility construction, road and parking lot construction & surveying. Willingness to travel out of town or state.
Education and Experience:
Four year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Minimum of eight years construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations engineering, cost control schedules and safety required. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential.
