To perform skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the mechanical servicing, maintenance and repair of a fleet of vehicles, heavy construction equipment and other equipment; to maintain records related to equipment and vehicle repairs, shop operations; and to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Ability to learn, understand and apply pertinent rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Read and understand maintenance and repair manuals and related diagrams.
Diagnose mechanical defects accurately and make necessary repairs to equipment in a timely manner.
Safely operate and maintain assigned equipment and tools.
Read and write at a level required for successful job performance.
Maintain accurate work records.
Perform required mathematical computations with accuracy.
Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Train other mechanics as assigned.
Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
Safely and effectively perform welding and fabrication work.
Possession of a valid CDL license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Previous Job Performance/Experience Required:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel-powered heavy automotive and road construction equipment, trucks and automobiles.
MUST possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License
Formal Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
