Pipe Foreman (Utilities/Water/Sewer)
Summary/Overview: Basic job functions and requirements for pipe foreperson. Supervises the lay out, assembly and installation of drain pipe including: reinforced concrete pipe, reinforced concrete box, and corrugated metal pipe, gravity and force main sewer, water mains and services and conduit installations.
Essential Job Functions/Requirements:
•Studies project specifications with project superintendent to plan procedures for pipe installation sequencing.
•Coordinates and supervises daily activities of 2 to 7 people.
•Operates assigned and oversee operation of heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill pipes and culverts. Inspects work site to determine sequencing and method of pipe installation and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
•Plans pipe installation to reduce inference with other project activities and traveling public.
•Establish safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards and company safety program. Comply with federal, state and company environmental policies.
•Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Operates machinery to verify repair.
•Inspects work to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
•Uses instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels and transit levels to set appropriate grade for pipe installation.
•Complete required paperwork as well as crew daily time.
•Travel to and from job site.
•Be able to perform strenuous manual labor in the outdoors, in all normal temperature ranges and weather conditions (i.e. rain, sun, snow, wind etc).
•Ability to traverse uneven terrain with varying elevation differences.
•Work near and around heavy construction equipment as well as large material objects.
•Work in enclosed spaces (i.e. cylindrical casing as well as excavation pits).
•Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
•May be required to have Class A CDL or obtain one within 6 months of employment.
•Ability to drive and operate motor vehicles.
•Work overtime, nightshifts, and weekends as required.
•Be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and to add, subtract, multiply and divide simple numbers.
•Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions.
•Exercise honesty, integrity, and respect with all customers and co-workers.
•Communicate and conduct one’s self in a manner that maintains a positive work atmosphere with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
•Snow removal as required.
•Abide by all Company procedures, policies and rules. Enforces company policies.
