SENIOR ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR
***Direct Hire/Perm Opportunity***
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for estimating work as scheduled by the Division Manager for bid. Estimator will price all field change orders and Material, equipment pricing in accordance with company standards. This position works closely with electrical supply houses, contractors, engineers, vendors and local code and building officials nationally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and/or coordinates the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, general tender or proposed work packages for additional work.
Bid projects with enough detail to provide accurate budgets and purchase orders
Review specifications and drawings to determine the total scope of work and associated costs.
Help create project plan
Complete take offs
Maintains files of working documents as backups for estimate figures and maintains current and accurate information on supplier prices, price lists, unite prices and quantity estimates.
Develop a plan for doing design build work
Recommends best solutions based on costs, engineering quality or availability of materials
Performs quantity surveys on scope of work
Determines strategy for costs recovery to be included in the final estimate price.
Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of potential sub-contractor bids for projects.
Interprets documentation, specifications, and design drawings to determine material and other associated costs to be included in the final estimate price.
Prepares final estimate summaries analyzing each section for scope, pricing and completeness.
Works with others on costs related to RFIs and extra work orders.
Prepares cost estimates associated with scope changes.
Ability to understand construction work sequence and the impact on costs when sequence is disrupted or changed.
Has a firm understanding of the work scope of other crafts and their impact and effect on the electrical or instrumentation job scope and productivity schedule.
Responsible for computerized estimating system, database, labor factors, equipment factor, and material factor updates
Work with contract administrator regarding bid document requirements
Production rate tracking and production reporting
Track and analyze competition and market pricing
Work with Field Foreman and Project Manager regarding field change orders
Work with Engineers to provide pre-bid services and analysis
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum of 10 years experience as Sr. Electrical Estimator
Ability to read plans and specifications
Manufacturing and industrial knowledge a must
Federal job estimating desired but not necessary
College degree preferred or experience in industry
Computerized estimating experience
Labor factor analysis, and modification
Microsoft office 365
Understanding of Microsoft Project and Primavera
Experience in the chemical plant, industrial plant, shipyard industries
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be willing to submit to pre-employment, random, post-accident and for-cause drug testing, as well as any other drug testing required by our clients and statutory regulations.
Must possess a valid US drivers license
Must be able to climb ladders, sit, bend, stoop, stand or walk for extended periods.
Must be able to travel to job site locations
Ability to work in extreme weather and temperature conditions.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must have minimal ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach lift,
Balance, carry, push, and pull as required for light duties of standard office clerical positions.
Must be able to lift 20lb. Maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighting up to 10lb.
Exposure to air-conditioned/heated office environment
Exposure to low noise levels from office equipment and voices.
Ability to work successfully unsupervised
