Job Description – Assistant Project Manager/Estimator
Location: Huntsville, AL
Duration: October 2020

We’re looking to add an entry-level Project Manager/ Estimator. This Employee will work closely with experienced Project Managers to assist with estimating and managing electrical construction projects. Our main focus of contracting is in the Automotive/ Heavy Industrial and Commercial markets. Projects include both new construction and renovation/ refurbishment with the size of projects ranging from less than $100k to multimillion dollar electrical packages.

• Assist in managing the bid process for potential projects. Including attending pre-bid meetings & walk-throughs.
• Assist in assembling the final bid proposal, based on estimate take-off to include labor, material, subcontractors and any other relevant project costs.
• Assist with the contract negotiation process. Including final scope review & confirmation.
• Assist the project PM in resolving any project issues.
• Attend internal and external project meetings.
• Assist with project communication with the Customer/Client or General Contractor.
• Assist with project administration. Including submittals, subcontracts, purchase orders, contract amendments, document revisions, manpower material flow, etc.
• Assist with establishing, managing and maintaining project schedules.
• Assist in monitoring, managing & forecasting job costs so as to maximize project profitability.
• Assist in resolving any delays or scope changes with regard to documentation and potential cost impacts.
• Assist with establishing and managing project deadlines & milestones as well as summarizing/reporting the progress of projects.
• Assist with managing and reporting project status (i.e. progress & financials).
• Assist in communicating changes/delays to project team members so as to ensure proper execution and escalation.
• Work with PM to oversee project execution along with the General Foreman and/or Foreman.
• Work with the PM and Superintendent to ensure proper staffing of the project.
• Work with the PM and Safety Director to ensure all company, state and OSHA safety regulations are being met.
• Learn client/customer relationship management.
Job Specifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or related is preferred.
• Excellent in Microsoft Office programs and general computer skills.
• Experience with BIM or Virtual Modeling is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative is required.
• Pre-employment drug testing required.
