[Pipefitter] Journeyman Pipefitter

The Pipefitter is responsible for planning and installing all piping systems for the projects, maintenance and repair of heating, cooling, gas and process piping and equipment in accordance with recognized procedures and techniques to the trade, following strict quality and safety standards.


Responsibilities:

Cut, thread, and fit pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.

Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.

Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.

Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.

Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.

Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.

Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.

Work with jobsite foreman to accomplish daily tasks

Participates in job planning for work packages, site set-up and construction schedules.

Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules utilizing knowledge of equipment capacities and assigned personnel.

Operates and supervises operation of equipment and machinery such as forklifts, man lifts, and power tools.




Requirements:

High school diploma or GED (add in EDU)

3 to 15 years of experience installing process / industrial piping systems.

Have a working knowledge of the materials and the installation of each found in the industrial industry.

Able to work Monday-Saturday (10 hour days) with occasional evenings and Sundays as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.

Possess valid driver's license.


Preferred certifications:

Welding Certifications to ASME Section IX of the Boiler Pressure Vessel Code

OSHA 10 hour

CPR


Travel Requirements:

3-week mobilizations on the road (6 days / week, 10 hours per day)


Proficiency in the following:

Able to read and understand plans and specifications.

Welding Certifications to ASME Section IX of the Boiler Pressure Vessel Code

Carbon Steel Piping up to 12" Diametertainless

Steel Piping up to 12" DiameterProficiency in SMAW / GTAW welding procedures and quality control

Victaulic / Grooved Piping

Threaded / Coupled Piping

Pro-Press Piping

Butt Weld Piping

Socket Weld Piping

Soldered / Brazed Piping

General working knowledge of the following systems

High Pressure (150 PSI) Steam Boiler Systems

Hot Water & Chilled Water Hydronic Systems

Compressed Air Piping Systems

Natural Gas Piping

Refrigeration Piping

Sanitary Food Grade Piping Systems (3A or BPE)

Wastewater Treatment Piping Systems

Possess basic MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-50lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
