Position Summary

The Director of Finance manages the day-to-day accounting function and activities including monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation, all facets of the general ledger activity, state and local tax compliance, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Contract Billing and Cost Management.

Responsibilities:

Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety first in everything we do.

Staff management

• Supervises the Finance and Accounting teams
• Provides appropriate career building and professional development activities to ensure a climate of growth for all department team members and
• Routinely monitors workplace for areas where growth is needed or possible and where existing resources can be further enhanced

Cash and Risk Management

• Manage ongoing banking relationships for maximum efficiency
• Develop cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast
• Partner with Risk Management in overseeing the annual insurance renewal process and ensure appropriate coverage is maintained at all times and
• Ensure appropriate financial review of contracts and partner with Legal for advice as required

Accounting and Financial Controls

• Manage the payroll function ensuring efficient systems, process and controls
• Manage the financial reporting ERP system (Vista by Viewpoint), ensuing maximum productivity and that it meets the needs of the business today and the future
• Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes and the development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output
• Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
• Oversee the external audit, review and analyze results and recommend for approval the audited financial statements
• Prepare the financial section of the annual report
• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations to ensure filings are completed in a timely manner
• Develop and oversee the internal review function to ensure that financial controls and policies are in place and followed to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and safeguarding of the Company’s assets and
• Ensure effective follow up processes are in place

Leadership

• Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of departmental, cross departmental and cross teamwork and customer service
• Ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals
• Develop finance and accounting team goals that are fully aligned with the business’s goals
• Lead and coach the team to retain high caliber staff and
• Provide coaching, guidance and support, set professional development plans to assist team members to reach their full potential through the performance management process

Management reporting

• Responsible for financial management reporting for the organization
• Present monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results
• Develop regular reporting and analysis, including Key Performance Indicators, key metrics reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required and
• Develop and prepare a monthly management reporting package

Budgeting

• Lead the any business plan development and budgeting process, where applicable
• Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to current and potential business partners
• Lead the financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in the construction industry, preferably civil and
• Strong working knowledge of accounting procedures and policies
