*MUST POSSESS MASTER TRADE LICENSE (electrician, plumber, or HVAC) in the state of Massachusetts*
Job Summary: Under general supervision, self-performs and leads a staff/crew of HVAC Technicians(s), Maintenance Electricians, General Maintenance and Trades Helpers, in performing a variety of operational projects and technical service or repairs in one or more skilled areas including mechanical, machining, electrical/electronic, plumbing, carpentry, millwright, welding, hydraulics/pneumatics, etc. Responsible for providing work direction, orientation, training and work review/inspection for assigned personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides work direction, orientation, training and work review/inspection to assigned personnel for assigned shifts.
Plans, selects, and prepares layouts required of materials for installation, service and/or repair work. May provide estimates, time and materials costs of various projects.
Provides direction and works from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts or verbal instructions and operate a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations.
Ensures facility and O&M equipment is maintained and repairs perfumed, also ensures appropriate maintenance documentation is completed and filed. Ensures project status and/or general maintenance performance is documented and reported to customer and Operations Manager on a timely and consistent basis.
Provides audit reports of performance levels to management as requested.
Provides required administrative support for Operations Manager as needed, such as time sheet review and manpower scheduling. May backfill for the Operations Manager as needed.
May be required to make recommendations regarding structural modifications required for installation, repair, replacement or maintenance of all assigned equipment.
Requisitions new supplies and equipment.
May be required to supervise sub-contractors.
Ensures compliance to all city, state, and federal license and certification requirements.
Maintains and submits all records and documents to proper authorities.
Responds to emergency situations and traces, troubleshoots and repairs problems; may wear a pager and or carry a shop radio for rapid response,
Ensure team and self-completes work in accordance with EMCOR Business Systems Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
Directs non-supervisory employees such as Maintenance Electrician(s) and HVAC Technician(s). Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include input related to interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; input for appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) required from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have 7-10 years’ experience supervising a crew of 5 or more; Must have 7-10 years’ Life Science experience; Must have a Massachusetts Trade License (Refrigeration, Electrical or plumbing) The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic skills such as Internet searches, use of email systems, electronic manuals, electronic learning, etc.
Universal CFC is required. Must hold at least one the following: Valid Massachusetts Journeyman’s Electrician’s license, Valid Refrigeration technicians license, or a Valid Plumbers license. Technical Degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience in a trade or discipline.
Other Skills and Abilities
Three to five years of proved leadership experience supervising a crew of five or more.
Must be able to read and work from blueprints and schematic diagrams
Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools
Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
Requires in-depth knowledge of various maintenance operations sufficient to deal with installation, service and repairs
Must have working knowledge of programmable logic controllers
Must have experience in working in a construction environment
Must have experience in life sciences lab buildings
