Environmental Engineer Job Description

Job Brief

An Environmental Engineer is responsible for managing technical projects and ensuring successful project outcomes. An accountable Environmental Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager with engineering and technical disciplines that projects involve. An Environmental Engineer may schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Additionally, the Environmental Engineer may assist with planning and performing environmental work involving collection of environmental data from site investigations and oversight of construction activities. This position may develop, implement, and maintain procedures and programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by performing the duties listed below.


* Adhere and help promote MT2's safety and environmental compliance requirements

* Reads and interprets plans and specifications

* Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor the assigned projects

* Estimation of project quantities and materials

* Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications

* Assists in determining the potential impact of Federal, state, and local regulations related to projects

* Communicate effectively with regulators

* Researches information to assist in preparing technical reports

* Prepares advanced documents under minimal supervision of others

* Maintain budgets and make adjustments according to needs as they arise

* Track project performance and analyze completion of key goals

* Review deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions

* Collects data and assists in interpretation of data

* Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status

* Executes field activities; records and maintains adequate documentation for closure

* Accepts responsibility for meeting standards of quality

* Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field

* Conduct regular meeting with clients to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner

* Assists in obtaining quotes from vendors and subcontractors
* Thorough and accurate

* Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support

* Communicates effectively with others; asks appropriate questions to clarify expectations and promote learning

* Able to forecast personal utilization and notify group leader/project manager of availability

* Manages multiple tasks with changing priorities

* Works under moderate oversight of daily work

* Takes ownership of assignments and sees them through to completion

* Meets internal deadlines

* Follows through on assignments and communicates status

* Delegate responsibilities effectively and mentor project team

* Adheres to project-specific and corporate-wide safety policies

* Other duties as assigned


* BS degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or relevant field

* Proven working experience as a Project Support Personnel

* Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD

* Advanced MS Office Suite skills

* Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards

* Ability to work with multiple discipline projects

* Decision making ability and leadership skills

* Time management and organization skills

* Ability to travel
