CIVIL STRUCTURAL DESIGNER
RCM Engineering Process & Industrial Services Division
Buffalo, NY
RCM Engineering Process & Industrial Services Division is looking for a Civil / Structural Designer in our Buffalo, NY area office.
Responsibilities:
• Perform project Civil / Structural design activities including modeling and design of steel structures, concrete foundations, reinforcing steel, roadways, grading, and drainage.
• Coordinate project tasks with process, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrument disciplines as required.
• Be able to assist a lead Civil / Structural Engineer in developing schedule for deliverables and scope of work.
• Be able to assist in the estimating effort required to perform Civil / Structural design scopes of work, and be able to complete assignments within project budgets.
• Independently prepare 3D models, drawings, and layouts from sketches with minimal supervision.
• Perform site evaluations within plants to gather information, assess site conditions, verify designs, and provide other on-site assistance during start-up or construction.
• Perform laser scanning, post-process scan data, and execute work in a 3-D environment utilizing scanned data to provide effective designs at existing & brownfield facilities.
• Provide training, guidance and supervision for developing civil & structural designers and drafters.
Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in modeling and design of steel structures, concrete foundations, reinforcing steel, roadways, grading, and drainage.
• Ability to create models and drawings using Autodesk Plant Design Suite (including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Navisworks); Advance Steel experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adherence to detail, with a desire to create accurate, organized, and well laid out models and drawings.
• Ability and willingness to travel to client locations or project sites.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Education:
• Associates degree in CAD Drafting and Design Technology or equivalent work experience.
