Title: Business Manager
Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: Bastrop, TX
Reports to: Technical Manager
The Business Manager is responsible for full range accounting functions of a multi-site power generation power company with assets located throughout the state of Texas. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Business Manager will be responsible for operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets for the facilities, evaluating cost synergies across the fleet, and support of proposed plant improvement opportunities. The Business Manager can work from any of the plant locations or the corporate office (Bastrop, Bremond, Waco, College Station) as their primary location with occasional travel supporting the balance of the operating fleet.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the accounting functions of a multi-site facility, to include timely completion of general accounting, budgeting, analysis, and support of daily operations at the facilities.
Ownership of annual and 5-year rolling OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
Manages and is responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation of journal entries, P&L review, and balance sheet reconciliations/analysis.
Responsible for annual budget process to ensure overall integrity of site budgets.
Interacts with all site management to develop goals and objectives, while assessing overall company performance.
Supervise a Senior Accountant and provide feedback where efficiency improvements can be made.
Prepare quarterly operational presentations to senior leadership, assessing company performance against objectives, and performing detailed analysis on performance goals and objectives as requested by management.
Liaise with the corporate legal team on all contract matters and participate in contract review as required.
Will indirectly supervise the site’s back-office teams to include procurement, accounts payable and inventory.
Must be an effective communicator, in writing and verbally.
Adept and comfortable talking with all levels of management.
Demonstrated experience at high level budgeting in excess of $1M.
Extreme attention paid to details that is reflected in work product.
Should be organized and able to manage multiple projects at once.
Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office; specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Experienced in utilizing accounting data within an ERP system. Mastery of extracting and formatting ERP data exports.
Previous experience with managing people directly.
Able to travel up to 25% within the US.
Will be sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Will perform repetitive tasks such as computer work daily
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
10+ years of accounting and/or business management experience required.
NetSuite ERP knowledge is preferred not required.
Previous work experience in the Power industry is preferred, not required.
