We are currently seeking a Lead Buyer to join our team on a $500+ Million dollar new steel mill project in Pueblo, CO.
SUMMARY:
Work closely with internal project departments and external suppliers to develop and implement strategic commodity plans for all assigned categories at the lowest total cost. This includes the development and coordination of key procurement strategies with the tactical/logistical buying team.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree with 5 + Years of buying experience.
• Lean Procurement experience.
• Understanding the customer.
• People skills.
• Problem solving.
• Professionalism.
• Negotiation.
• Networking.
• Heavy Construction experience a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review requested procurements desired by departments and consults best methods of procurement depending on requirements, specifications, delivery needs and total spend.
• Lead the development of and execution of category management strategies for all assigned categories/commodities.
• In line with strategic objectives, lead the negotiations to select, appoint and steer a supply base that progresses the company objectives on quality, cost, delivery and innovation.
• Ensure all selected suppliers are compliant with service level agreements.
• Monitor, manage and report on achievements of key purchasing indicators (KPI’s) in line with department requirements.
• Immediately respond to unforeseen supply failures, working with manufacturing and supplier to avoid supply chain interruptions.
• Ensure Supply Chain Resilience standard work is followed and align with Category Management and Palmer Project on project prioritization to mitigate supply risk.
Target pay range 45-55/hr along with per diem package including trips home every 3 weeks.
