MEP Technical Coordinator - HVAC and Control Systems Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA (or surrounding states)

Job Type: Contract/1099 with ability to convert to Perm-W2

Salary: $70-$80/Hr

Job Description:

Are you passionate about advanced mechanical systems and ensuring seamless integration of HVAC and control systems? We are seeking a skilled MEP Technical Coordinator to join our team. As the MEP Technical Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the installation of electrical equipment while serving as a primary resource for mechanical and control troubleshooting and solutions development. This position requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities:

- Integrate HVAC systems to communicate effectively with the owner's control system.
- Troubleshoot communication issues and diagnose program or hardware-related problems.
- Update control systems to modern platforms and ensure compatibility with existing devices.
- Start HVAC equipment and establish communication with control systems.
- Facilitate communication among project stakeholders and centralize discussions for issue resolution.
- Verify system installations meet project requirements and adhere to safety protocols.
- Coordinate project schedules with all business units and manage large project sites for timely completion of work.
- Act as the single point of contact for project status updates, maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings to address action items and ensure adherence to project schedules.
- Understand site safety protocols including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Required Skills:

- 10+ years of experience working with advanced mechanical systems, including chillers, VAVs, CRAHs, AHUs, etc.
- HVAC interface experience and expertise in retrofitting control systems (preferably in an industrial setting).
- Familiarity with Energy Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) or similar SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in configuring communication cards.
- Experience managing large, high-profile projects for at least 2 years.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret building information accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business units.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Willingness to travel within the North American region.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

- Installation and field experience in the electrical industry, particularly in data center work.
- Familiarity with energy marshalling on data center projects.
- OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E certifications.
- Journeyman license preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs.
- Capable of sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, and climbing as necessary.
- Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
