Job Title: Engineering Technician (Solar)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months

Our client has a need for an Sr. Engineering Technician (Solar). This is a contract position; however, it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our clients. If you have the background we’re looking for, and you’re interested in an opportunity to get your foot in the door with a leading company, we want to talk with you!

Overview:
Functions in a Senior Lead Engineering Technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may provide direction to other engineering professionals.

Requirements:
• Advance knowledge of above and below grade cable installation requirements for voltages up to 35kV.
• Advance knowledge of raceway sizing and material selection requirements.
• Intermediate knowledge of trenching and directional boring methods for electrical cables.
• Advance knowledge of grounding methods for utility scale solar plants.
• Advance knowledge of the following codes and application of their requirements to utility scale solar plants.
o • IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
o • NEC - National Electrical Code
o • NESC - National Electrical Safety Code
o • NEMA - National Electrical Manufacturers Association
o • NFPA – National Fire Protection Agency
• Advance knowledge of electrical equipment placement and clearances applicable to utility scale solar plants.
• Basic knowledge of how electrical equipment placement and cable length affects maximum voltage drop limits applicable to utility scale solar plants.
• Basic knowledge of cable tie-in connections at substations.
• Intermediate knowledge of solar racking systems (fixed tilt and tracking).
• Basic knowledge of site preparation (site clearing, grading, drainage, roads, etc.) applicable to utility scale solar plants.
• Ability to manage sub-contracts for cable installations.
• Ability to review manufacture drawings for needed content and interfaces requirements.
• Ability to provide verbal and written communicates with client, sub-contractors, and construction personnel.
• Ability to review construction requests and provide appropriate responses.
• Ability to apply lessons learned to future designs.
