15 Commissioning Engineers Needed – Solar Utility EPC – 100% Working on Solar Utility Sites for 2+ Years – Contract and Contract-to-Hire

A rapidly growing Solar Utility EPC with 2 years of signed projects is actively recruiting 15+ Commissioning Engineers to join the team on either long-term contract OR contract-to-hire opportunities with domestic projects all over CA, the Northeast and MISO district! The team built over 800+ million dollars in revenue in 2020 due to their propriety technology that gives this team a competitive advantage over other solar utility EPCs.
Who We are Recruiting:
The company has strategically and intelligently decided to incorporate a mix of contract, contract-to-hire and full-time employees to support the extensive commissioning work needed due to the volume of projects in construction and will be in construction soon. Approximately 1/3 of the team will be on long term contract positions, 1/3 of the team will be on a contract-to-hire opportunity and 1/3 of the team will be full time employees doing commissioning work for 50-90 hours per week with an average of 60 hours per week.
This is an awesome opportunity for recent college grads with a BS in Engineering (electrical is a plus) or related industry who are passionate about the solar industry AND open to working onsite for 3-4 week stints with a paid flight home monthly.
The Commissioning team will consist of a 0-3 years of experience with an engineering degree, 4-15+ years of experience ideally with an engineering degree who prefer a contract to hire opportunity and then a team of long-term contractors with power generation and/or solar experience. Compensation - $30/hr-$60/hr + per diem typically around the GSA guidelines for maximum per diem allowances
Scope of responsibilities:
• Commission projects working in cooperation with multiple project stakeholders including construction managers, contractors, suppliers, automation teams, control systems teams, etc.
• Develop and support commissioning plans including resourcing and scheduling.
• Create professional commissioning and testing reports for internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Drive continuous improvement on developing and capturing technical problem solving knowledge to enable other organizations to effectively resolve customer problems and inquiries.
• Define, develop and execute testing protocols based on market rules, local utility requirements, off-taker and third-party supply contracts.
• Oversee complete commissioning and acceptance testing of the solar systems
• Perform electricity market and/or off-taker qualification testing as required for the project to commence commercial operations.
• Commission projects working in cooperation with multiple project stakeholders including construction managers, contractors, suppliers, automation teams, control systems teams, etc.

• Define, develop and execute testing protocols based on market rules, local utility requirements, off-taker and third-party supply contracts.
• Oversee complete commissioning and acceptance testing of the following systems: 1) project networks, communications, and control systems; 2) balance of plant relay protection, metering, HVAC, fire suppression, and electrical systems; 3) battery subsystem; 4) inverter subsystem.
• Perform electricity market and/or off-taker qualification testing as required for the project to commence commercial operations.
Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering, Math or similar field preferred
• 0-40+ years of Commissioning experience
• Open to working onsite 100% of the time with paid flights home every 3-4 weeks
o Background in Project Engineering, Estimating, Commissioning or O&M is a plus
• Strongly interested in working the field versus a desk/office position
• Passionate about the solar industry
• Battery experience is a huge plus
• SCADA and Inverter experience is preferred
• Targeting a long term, career-oriented position OR long-term contract position
• Power generation or solar experience is preferred
• Knowledge and experience with SCADA protocols such as: IEC60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850 MMS, DNP3 & Modbus is a plus
• Working knowledge on PLC (Siemens S7 & Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC), soft logic IEC 61131, SEL Relays & Meters, Siemens Relays & Meters & SCADA Gateways & Data Concentrators is a plus
• Experience with Managed Ethernet Switches, Media Converters (Fiber & Serial) is preferred.
• Able to pass a drug and background check
