[Project Engineer] Solar Project Design Engineer- Remote position

Remote Position

The Project Engineer is the lead role for all technical and design work for a large solar project from handoff of conceptual design by the business development and presales team until final completion of the project. The Project Engineer is responsible for understanding and coordinating the work of all design disciplines to ensure cohesive design documentation that clearly communicates how the project should be built to all parties involved. In addition to design management responsibilities, the Project Engineer is responsible for developing and documenting the electrical design of the project.


Responsibilities
Develop high quality design documentation (drawings, PVSyst models, product specifications, commissioning plans, test results, calculations, and other technical documents as necessary) to communicate the project design to the client, AHJs, and sub-contractors, and ensure compliance with applicable codes.
Develop and document selection and placement of photovoltaic modules, DC components, inverters, panelboards, switchgear, and medium voltage equipment.
Review and manage design documentation for all disciplines (electrical, structural, civil, SCADA/DAS, etc.) to ensure proper coordination between disciplines.
Review, understand, and work within the contracted SOW, commissioning requirements, performance testing requirements, budget, and schedule to execute projects.
Utilize available resources (ACAD templates, cable sizing tools, and PVSyst models) to efficiently deliver design documentation. Contribute to process improvement.
Work with technical resources such as drafters, engineering consultants, and equipment suppliers to deliver cohesive design packages.
Support the project team in submitting drawings and other documentation to obtain permits, seek bids, specify equipment, and hit contract milestones.
The Project Engineer should work closely with other project team members across multiple departments including Project Managers, Construction Managers, Buyers, Administrators, Business Development leads, and other Engineers.
The role will require occasional travel for both office meetings and field visits to active construction sites, requiring PPE.

Requirements
Bachelorís degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited university
3+ yearsí experience in planning, design, and/or operations of photovoltaic systems
Engineering in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

Skills to be Successful
Must be comfortable with the technical aspects of the job as well as business and client interactions.
Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails. Project management skills are preferred.
Must be a supportive team member, able to work in a collaborative environment as well as work on self-directed independent projects. Must be self-motivated with the ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Preferable to also have experience with ETAP, PVSyst, Civil3D, Helios3D, and Procore.

Work Environment
Work will be conducted from the Union, NJ office with flexibility for occasional remote working
Project Engineers report directly to the Engineering Director.
Travel will be required for office meetings and visits to project sites, up to 20%.


Duration: 6 month contract to hire position
Location: Remote
Rate: $80-90k
