Job Summary: 

PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for an Operations and Maintenance Technician (OMT) in a fast paced and dynamic work environment at a cutting-edge technology Test Facility located in Northern Los Angeles County, CA.  The Operations and Maintenance Technician is a vital position with a tight knit team and will be an integral part of Research and Development (R&D) for the latest renewalbe energy technology that is focused on eliminating the need for fossil fuels by using advanced solar technology and software.  The Operations and Maintenance Technician will report to the Facility Test Engineer and work closely the team to support the day-to-day operations of the Test Facility to advance research and develop technology for commercial use.  This is a unique opportunity to build technical and troubleshooting skillsets for future career growth.

Our Customer is a state-of-the-art renewable energy technology company who owns proprietary technology to produce green hydrogen and electricity capable of concentrating, capturing, and refining sunlight into cost-effective energy for on demand needs.  The Test Facility will be focused on testing new systems and equipment such as heliostats, receivers and reactors for new projects. The Test Facility has been built out to include permanent installations of a proprietary heliostat field, a tower for concentrated solar receiver testing, and three buildings which includes a control room and workshop areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and maintain cutting edge solar thermal equipment at our research and test facility.
Start up, monitor, and shutdown equipment associated with solar energy collection, steam generation, and hydrogen production.
Perform routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of electrical, rotating, and heat transfer equipment.
Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, all terrain reach lifts, boom lifts, and earth moving machines.
Use a computerized maintenance management system to document and track work orders, perform inventories, procure spare parts and produce reports of completed work.
Participate in the safe operation of the facility by identifying hazards and taking the required actions to resolve.
Supervise mechanical/piping/welding (ASME B31.3) works as well as some civil, electrical, instrumentation and controls.
Job Requirements:

The ability to manage deliverables, manage timelines, and complete tasks as efficiently as possible.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel and experience with a computerized maintenance management system.
Physical Requirements:

Position requires physical activities including climbing ladders, working on elevated towers and platforms, and entering small/ limited spaces in an outdoor environment that could see significant temperature extremes.
Education / Experience:

High school diploma or GED required.
Five (5) years as an operations or maintenance technician at an industrial process that may include steam generation, electricity generation, water treatment, parts manufacturing, or petroleum/chemical production.
Two (2) years operating an industrial process using a DCS or PLC based control system.
Prior experience operating solar thermal power generation facilities would be considered a plus.
