Turbine Millwright (337743)

BHI Energy is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented and well-organized Millwright to assist the Hydro division. You will work closely with supervisors to complete your daily tasks. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as conveyors and tram rails, using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
  • Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs.
  • Must have knowledge of optical and laser alignments.
  • Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
  • May use transit and level for equipment setting.
  • Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Plan work and select proper tools.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions form plans and drawings.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Operate various types of machinery.
  • Work at heights without fear.
This assignment is for various hydroelectric power plants located in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia area. Per diem and mobilization is available for qualified applicants. Qualifications / Education / Experience:
  • An ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and vocational school training related to a respective craft or equivalent industry certifications.
  • Prior experience working on hydroelectric turbines is highly preferred
  • Be able to communicate effectively in a technical environment and be able to use power tools necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Must be able to effectively work with a variety of personnel to include external customers, clients, and internal personnel.
  • Able to work, weekends, and holidays as needed; and be able to pass all background and screening requirements for the position, to include drug and/or alcohol screening.
