Seeking Degreed Automation Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer for Greenfield Bio-Facility Project in SE United States.

As part of our Greenfield Engineering Team, the Engineer will act as the Owner’s Representative for their assigned discipline as part of a team of Owner’s Representatives and review/design/create/validate automated systems for a new cutting-edge production and manufacturing facility engaged in renewable energy.

The Engineer will be the front line on the climate war to ensure design is correct and must therefore be willing and able to dig deep into the design to look for issues, recommend solutions, and ensure final design will perform as intended.

The Engineer will start with the preliminary design drafted by others and collaborate to ensure automation capabilities and future opportunities to improve production and financial return through automation are adequately included in the new design prior to turning this preliminary design over to an Engineering Firm (TBD) to complete detailed design. The Engineer will then be responsible to collaborate with the Engineering Firm (TBD) to review, comment, and ultimately accept the detailed design. Responsible for integrated automation that supports improved performance, as well as designing and testing new automated equipment and processes for a renewable energy facility.

Responsibilities include:
• Reviewing preliminary designs to ensure readiness for detailed design.
• Revising design as necessary based upon review of preliminary design.
• Following detailed design efforts – participating in design reviews and ensuring detailed design is correct prior to implementation.
• Leading collaborative discussions with the core team, detailed design team, and leadership to explore and implement automated systems.
• Identifying issues with proposed designs and equipment and determining solutions.
• Reviewing, designing and testing/validating automation equipment and processes.
• Reviewing, designing and programming HMI for controls rooms and other locations.
• Programming of new automated equipment and processes.
• Creating detailed road maps and schedules to guide automation aspects of project.
• Writing reports regarding investigations and design issues as needed.
• Performing financial evaluations regarding return on investment of automated equipment and processes.
Requirements/Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant engineering degree, with experience in Renewable Energy or relevant manufacturing.
• Three to five years (3-5) Automation Engineering experience in a relevant industry.
• Strong leadership and self-starting mentality – ability to work autonomously and give and receive direction.
• Superb attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.
• Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tasks.
• Solid writing skills for creation of modifications, reports, and updates.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively.
• Proficiency with maintaining automation equipment.
• Working proficiency with scheduling tools – e.g., P6, Microsoft Project.
• Strong desire for self-improvement and keeping up with the latest technology.
• Demonstrated/documented examples of the above characteristics.

Preferred qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical field
• Experience with Project Management a plus
• Experience with robotics, AI, and Machine Learning a plus

Contract work for independent contractors – e.g., must have own LLC or other business entity, or willingness to create one.

This position has a great deal of potential for longevity and growth, given the right candidate.

Contract position = Rate + expenses

Must be able to provide four recent and solid work references and pass a rigorous background check.
