Electrical - Technical Subject Matter Expert, Power & Renewables
Location: Preferred location New York City, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA or Florida areas. This position will require a little more than 50% travel.
Pay range: $160,000-$220,000
Per diem: will be available when traveling

In this Technical Subject Matter role, you will conduct, review and interpret power system analyses and reports such as load flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies for planning and operational purposes as well as design studies in tools such as PSCAD or other EMT type tools. You will also conduct site visits and inspections in a T&D/Substation environment, throughout the construction, testing & commissioning and operational phases of the project.

How your experience will contribute to the team:
Review and validate complex software models in PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP, and Cyme.
Advisor for clients on high level interconnection strategy
Coach and supervise younger engineers starting out in the field.
Support Client utilities in their system expansion and interconnection studies.
Attend and present at Power Industry events and conferences.
Support substation physical design, protection and control system design and studies (grounding, lightning, insulation coordination, bus studies, load calculations, ampacity sizing of electrical equipment, arc flash, short circuit, selective coordination, and harmonic analysis)
Prepare/review/validate technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Maintain and update power system models and databases.
Contribute to the development and verification of technical reference information and system requirements.
Lead one-on-one and team sessions with peers, colleagues, partners, and customers that highlight Electrical Engineering objectives, issues, and their resolution.
Deep Electrical design and code compliance understanding, electrical calculation standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, and ANSI) and customer experience knowledge.
Leadership and capacity to foster collaboration toward a common goal.


Role Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Engineering with strong background in power system analysis.
MSc. Or Ph.D. in the field of power system analysis is considered an asset.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
Extensive understanding of power systems, renewable integration, and electrification challenges.
Extensive understanding of FACTS.
In depth experience with using power system software packages (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills.
A Minimum of 15 years relevant work experience in the field.
Experienced in facilities management service delivery with specialist knowledge in Electrical systems.
Industry association membership (e.g., IEEE) with committee chair and associated technical paper development.
SKILLS & APTITUDES
Able to work within a collaborative team that promotes sharing of knowledge and experience.
The Candidate must be physically capable of carrying out site visits and inspections in a T&D/Substation environment, throughout the construction, testing & commissioning and operational phases of the project.
