Job Summary:
As a key member of our shipboard project team, the Warehouse Specialist & Ship Support Driver performs a variety of warehousing and logistics duties crucial to naval operations support. This role requires a thorough understanding of our storage plan and the ability to safely transport materials to and from the ship.
Job Responsibilities:
Warehouse Management:
o Verify materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting any discrepancies or damages
o Route materials to prescribed storage locations
o Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with established storage methods
o Conduct regular inventory checks and rearrange stored materials as needed
o Examine stored materials and report any deterioration or damage
o Remove materials from storage and prepare them for shipment or delivery to the ship
Transportation and Delivery:
o Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials between the warehouse and the naval ship
o Ensure all materials are securely loaded and unloaded
o Adhere to all security protocols for accessing the shipyard and naval vessel
Inventory Control:
o Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials
o Participate in regular inventory audits
o Use inventory management software to track stock levels and movements
Safety and Compliance:
o Follow all safety procedures in both the warehouse and shipyard environments
o Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
o Maintain a clean and organized work area
Communication:
o Coordinate with project managers and ship personnel regarding material needs and deliveries
o Report any issues or discrepancies promptly to supervisors
Maximum Qualification:
High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years of warehouse experience preferred
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a background check for shipyard and vessel access
Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 100 lbs
Forklift certification a plus
