Sirius Technical Services is seeking a Process Safety Engineer/PHA Facilitator for a 6 month contract in Theodore, AL!
Requirements for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Facilitator / Process Safety Engineer
Experienced Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Facilitator to work under guidance of PS Engineering team to facilitate various process safety studies to meet company standards. Expectation is for this engineer to function as study facilitator & scribe as well as a knowledgeable process safety engineer (i.e. ability to assist the team with hazard identification, scenario definition and potential engineering solutions for any identified gaps). Must have experience with remote facilitation using platforms such as webex, MS Teams, etc. Must be flexible to travel post-pandemic.
Minimum B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Masters or PhD preferred
Minimum 8 years (more preferred) of professional experience in the chemical industry in roles such as production, operations, engineering, and/or process safety
Minimum 5 years (more preferred) functioning as a PHA facilitator utilizing various methodologies such HazId, structured What-If, HazOp, etc.
Experience with chemical reactions, thermal & chemical reactivity hazards
In-depth knowledge & understanding of various chemical unit operations functioning within continuous, batch & semi-batch processes
Facilitation experience must be with full plant revalidations and/or investment project assessments, not limited to smaller, day-to-day management of change evaluations
Familiar with Layers of Protection Analysis (LoPA) concepts and functional safety topics
Understanding of Codes and Standards such as OSHA 1910.119 PSM, Section 112(r) EPA-RMP, IEC 61511, NFPA 30, API 520 & 521, and other RAGAGEPs related to safety engineering
Ability to quickly learn and facilitate studies using PHAWorks and/or PHA-Pro software programs
Ability to quickly establish credibility & rapport with PHA teams; able to push back & respectfully challenge as necessary
